These little treats have become so popular that companies now sell them in supermarkets across America.

How Do You Make Corn Nuggets?

There are many different recipes to choose from online, but most of these involve frying or baking the corn nuggets.

If you want to try making some yourself, here are some tips on how to do this.

  • You can buy corn nuggets already cooked and ready to eat. Most grocery stores will be able to provide you with a variety of options, including plain, flavored, and even gluten-free varieties.
  • If you don’t mind having to use oil to cook your corn nuggets, you can prepare them using a deep fryer. You should only use vegetable oil though – not animal fats or lard.
  • Alternatively, if you want to avoid frying altogether, you can bake your corn nuggets instead. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit (90 degrees Celsius) and place your corn nuggets on a wire rack over paper towels to absorb any excess moisture before placing them directly onto a cookie sheet.
  • Cooking time depends on the size of your batch. It takes about 5 minutes per batch to cook your corn nuggets, so keep an eye on them as they go through each stage of cooking.
  • Once you’ve finished cooking your corn nuggets, let them cool down completely before handling them further. Otherwise, you risk getting burnt fingers, which isn’t good news.

What Is In A Corn Nugget?

Corn nuggets contain no added sugar or artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives of any kind.

They also don’t contain any genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

How Do You Cook Corn Nuggets?

Unlike other snacks which need to be baked or deep fried before eating, these tiny morsels can be cooked straight out of their packaging, as long as they’ve been kept chilled throughout.

To prepare them, simply remove the plastic wrapping and place the nuggets on a tray lined with paper towels.

Make sure there’s plenty of space between each one, otherwise they will stick together.

Once they’ve cooled down completely, pop them back in the fridge for another hour or two until ready to eat.

If you don’t want to keep them in the fridge, make sure to put them in the microwave on high power for about 30 seconds per side.

You may also fry them in a frying pan over medium heat if you prefer to avoid using electricity.

Whichever method you choose, remember to use only nonstick pans and oil spray instead of butter or lard.

While we recommend keeping them refrigerated unless cooking instructions specify otherwise, this step isn’t absolutely necessary.

How Many Calories Are In Corn Nuggets?

Corn nuggets contain only 15 to 20 calories per serving, which makes them very low calorie food options.

In fact, most people can eat one or two of these snacks without feeling hungry again until their next mealtime.

Because these snacks are so high in fiber, you won’t feel satiated eating too many of them.

You might be tempted to keep snacking on them throughout the day, but this will lead to weight gain because no matter how much you munch down, you won’t get full.

What Is The Difference Between Corn Nuggets And Other Nugget Recipes?

  • 11 ounce creamed corn
  • 11 ounce whole kernel corn drained
  • ½ cup yellow cornmeal
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 cups vegetable oil for deep frying


  • A hefty saucepan or deep fryer should be used to heat the oil until it reaches a temperature of 185C/365F.
  • In a medium bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Whisk the egg, milk, and shortening in a another basin. Mix the dry ingredients and the liquid mixture together. Fold the corn through.
  • Spoonfuls of the nugget batter should be dropped into the hot oil. Fry for 2 to 3 minutes or until golden.
  • The nuggets should be taken out of the oil and put on paper towels to drain. Serve right away.
