In honor of her birthday on June 14th, I made these biscuits with Paula Deen’s Butter Recipe (also known as “Butter Cookies”).

I used this butter recipe because it has a higher fat content which makes the resulting biscuits lighter and fluffier but still very delicious!


  • Baking Powder – 1 tablespoon + 2 teaspoons
  • Salt – ½ teaspoon
  • Cream of Tartar – ¼ teaspoon
  • Milk – 3/4 cup
  • Unsalted Butter – 1 stick or 4 tablespoons
  • Sugar – 3 Tablespoons
  • All Purpose Flour – 1½ cups plus 2 Tablespoons
  • Eggs – 6 large eggs, beaten well
  • Vanilla Extract – 1 teaspoon


1- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

2- Sift together baking powder, salt, cream of tartar and flour into bowl. Make a well in center of dry ingredients and add milk, sugar, egg yolks, butter, vanilla extract and mix until smooth dough forms. Add additional flour if necessary to form soft ball dough.

3- Roll out dough between two pieces of parchment paper to about ¾ inch thickness, cut using cookie cutter and place on ungreased baking sheets. Brush tops of biscuits with melted butter.

4- Bake at 425 degrees F for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

5- Allow cookies to cool completely before serving.
