Ruth Chris Stuffed Chicken Recipe

Ruth’s Chris Steak House specializes in classic American cuisine.

They offer everything from seafood dishes like lobster tail and shrimp cocktail, to steak dinners and sandwiches.

What Is The Name Of The Dish?

The name of this delicious chicken dish comes from its stuffing.

It is called Chicken Fricassee Stuffed Flanken, but you can also call it Chicken Fricassee or Chicken Filling.

If you want an easier-to-pronounce version for your family and friends, here’s how you say it: “chicken filling.”

You may have heard this term before if you’ve ever seen a package of ground turkey meat that has been mixed into breadcrumbs and used as a filler in various foods.

In this recipe, the stuffing consists of fresh sage leaves, thyme, rosemary, basil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, poultry seasoning, and lemon zest.

This stuffing goes inside the chicken leg so that when you bake it, the flavor infuses throughout the entire piece of chicken.

What Are The Ingredients?

The restaurant offers many different entrées that can be ordered as appetizers or main meals.

For example, you can order a half rack of lamb for $40, or a whole fish of your choice.

If you want something lighter, there’s always the Caesar salad, which comes with grilled chicken, croutons, parmesan cheese, anchovies, and Romaine lettuce leaves.

Or if you prefer meat over vegetables, there’s the pork chop sandwich, served on potato bread with caramelized onions, tomato basil sauce, provolone cheese, and garlic aioli.

If you’re looking for an entree that will satisfy both your taste buds and your budget, look no further than the Stuffed Chicken.

It may not have the fancy name, but it has all the essential components of a great meal.

Here’s what you need to know about this tasty dish.

  • Chicken Breast (4-6 oz)
  • Onion Soup Mix
  • Parmesan Cheese
  • Basil Pesto
  • Cream Cheese
  • Herb Butter
  • Ginger Ale Sauce
  • Pepper Jack Cheese Blend

How Is The Chicken Prepared?

It is then broiled or pan-seared until golden brown on both sides.

It is served with mashed potatoes, green beans, and a choice of three sauces — blue cheese, bacon cheddar, or honey mustard.

Stuffed Chicken Recipe Tips

You can stuff your chicken however you’d like — just be careful not to overstuff it.

You don’t want too much stuffing going into the cavity because it will weigh down the bird as it cooks which could lead to dry skin when done.

So, if you’ve got some extra stuffing left over after you finish rolling it all together, try making an appetizer instead.

When baking stuffed chicken breasts, it may take longer than usual to reach 165 degrees Farenheit (73 degrees Celsius).

It’s best to start monitoring the temperature at around 1 hour and 15 minutes after you put them in the oven.

When they hit that mark, remove the pan from the heat source and let sit until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees Fahrenheit (71 degrees Centigrade).

Then, cover the pan for 5 minutes and continue to rest another 10 minutes before removing the lid to serve.

What Is The Serving Size?

The serving size for this recipe is one piece of chicken breast per person.

Each portion contains 1/4 cup stuffing mix and 2 tablespoons of herb butter.

You can choose whether or not you want your meal served with mashed potatoes or rice pilaf as well.

How Many Calories Are In The Dish?

The calorie count for this meal is 756 calories per person (the restaurant recommends splitting your order into two).

That includes one large breadstick appetizer, half a grilled chicken breast, one side salad, and one slice of key lime pie.

If you don’t have room for dessert, be sure to skip it or share!

What Are The Nutrition Facts?

The main course at Ruth’s Chris can be found on their website under the “dish” section.

You’ll find a list of entrees that includes the calorie count for each item.

The calorie counts range from 270 calories for an appetizer (small) all the way up to 1,120 calories for a meal (large).

Each entrée also has nutritional information listed next to it.

Under this section you will find details about how much protein, fat, carbohydrates, fiber, sodium, cholesterol, and vitamins and minerals there is in your food.

A lot of people don’t look too closely at these numbers because they assume that if something says “low-fat,” or “no added sugar,” that it must be good for them.

But even though these items may not have as much fat or sugar as other foods, they’re still full of ingredients that aren’t necessarily healthy for us.

For example, while low-fat salad dressing might taste great, it could contain high amounts of trans fats or artificial sweeteners.

What Is The Price?

The prices at Ruth’s Chris vary depending on what you order for your meal.

However, it might be best to stick to one thing if you want to keep things simple.

For example, if you choose a filet mignon or grilled salmon fillet as an entree, you can add sides (like mashed potatoes) and still come out under $30 per person.

If you have more time and money to spend, try something that includes items such as crab cakes, broiled lobster tail, or even some appetizers like fried oysters and onion rings.

You may need to go over budget by about $20 per person, but this will give you the opportunity to enjoy several different foods and flavors throughout the course of your meal.

Ruth’s Chris does not post its menu online, so we don’t know exactly how much each item costs.

Instead, we used Yelp reviews to find the average cost of various meals, including entrées, side orders, drinks, and desserts.

Here are the results:

  • Entrées range between $17 – $24
  • Appetizers include potato chips, olives, and breadstick rolls, which cost around $5 apiece
  • Sides typically run around $6-8
  • Drinks range from $4-$7
  • Desserts range between $9-$15

Keep in mind that these numbers do not necessarily reflect the actual bill after tax and tip.

It also assumes that everyone eats only half their portion size, which isn’t always true.

On top of all that, restaurants tend to change their menus often, so the above figures aren’t guaranteed to remain accurate forever.

Is The Dish Gluten Free?

The restaurant offers both gluten-free and regular menu items.

Some examples include their signature appetizers such as the crab cake and the cheese blintz.

On the other hand, their entrees are not completely gluten-free.

For example, they have several different types of steaks on their menu — including rib eye, filet mignon and short ribs.

If you would prefer to avoid gluten for any reason, it’s important that you do your research before ordering an entree or appetizer at Ruth’s Chris.

Gluten can cause severe reactions if consumed by people who suffer from celiac disease or another related condition.

It’s also worth noting that some of the staff members at Ruth’s Chris may unknowingly handle food containing gluten.

If you suspect this might be the case, make sure to ask them about the ingredients used when preparing your meal.

Can The Dish Be Made Ahead Of Time?

Yes! You can make this stuffed chicken recipe ahead of time and keep it warm for your guests until ready to serve.

Just wrap it tightly in foil or plastic wrap (or place inside an oven-safe pan) and reheat at 350℉/180₃ F for about 20 minutes before serving.
