Are there any special tips for making a Sloppy Jane?

Sloppy Jane is a delicious twist on the classic sloppy joe recipe, and one of our favorite ways to enjoy ground beef with melted cheese.

The name comes from the original dish’s sloppiness which is the result of some seasoning, cheese, and the fact that it is served in a tortilla.

Unlike the original recipe, you won’t need to use any breadcrumbs or crusty bread — this recipe is made without any flour or panko or other gluten-free flours.

The ground beef is also seasoned very lightly and cooked with onions instead of bell peppers for extra flavor.

Don’t be alarmed about all these different ingredients though; they’re perfectly paired and make up a hearty meal that’s perfect for lunch, dinner, or any time of day.

What is the most popular way to serve a Sloppy Jane?

There are several different ways to serve a Sloppy Jane.

First and foremost, this recipe is great for breakfast.

Add some bacon and eggs, and you’ll have a hearty breakfast with plenty of flavor.

Add some toast or a side of French fries and you have a complete meal.

Another great option is to serve the Sloppy Jane in a bun.

This gives you more room for toppings and makes it easier to eat.

If you’re looking for the traditional burger, you can add your Sloppy Jane to some patties instead of the traditional bun.

If you’re looking for something new, try serving the Sloppy Jane on an English muffin.

This gives you even more room for toppings, but it does prohibit any type of bread on the bottom, which can make your sandwich too soggy.

What other dishes go well with a Sloppy Jane?

Sloppy Jane would go well with a grilled cheese, vegetable lasagna, and a fresh garden salad.

You can make this recipe using ground beef or turkey for a vegetarian version.

Most sandwiches work better with a thicker layer of tomato sauce, so use the following measurements to create a thicker sauce.

  • 8oz ground beef (or turkey) plus one cup chopped onions
  • 4-6oz diced bell peppers (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups diced tomatoes
  • 8oz shredded cheddar cheese plus one cup grated Parmesan
  • ketchup or other condiment (optional)
  • buttered bread (optional)

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and peppers until the beef is browned.

Stir in the tomatoes and mix well.

Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes.

Add salt and pepper to taste if needed.

Remove from heat and set aside while you assemble your sandwich.

Spread melted cheddar cheese over the bottom half of your bread slices to form two layers.

On the bottom of each bread slice add 2-3 tablespoons tomato sauce, then top with another piece of bread.

Spread the meat mixture over the top half of the bread slices, then top with the remaining cheese on top of that.

Heat a large skillet over medium high heat and toast your remaining bread slices until golden brown on both sides.

Cut each slice into quarters on an angle and place onto dinner plates as desired.
