Ingredients

  • ½ pounds ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 12 slices sourdough bread
  • ½ cup Secret Sauce
  • 1 cup caramelized onions
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter

Secret Sauce

  • ¼ cup Dijon mustard
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon barbecue sauce
  • ½ teaspoon hot sauce

Caramelized Onions

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 medium Vidalia onions, thinly sliced

Instructions

  • Ground beef, Worcestershire, salt, and pepper should be combined in a big basin. 6 oval patties of ground beef should be formed.
  • Patties should be fried for about two minutes on each side in a big cast-iron skillet at medium-high heat until browned and well done. Take the skillet from the stove. Take the patties out of the skillet and clean it.
  • 1 piece of bread, 1 tablespoon Secret Sauce, 2 to 3 tablespoons of caramelized onions, 1 slice of cheese, 1 hamburger, and 1 more tablespoon Secret Sauce are layered on top of each other. Add one more slice of bread on top. Repeat with the remaining bread, cheese, patties, onions in caramel sauce, and caramelized onions.
  • Cooking pan on a medium-high heat. In a skillet, melt two tablespoons of butter. Cook sandwiches in batches, flipping once, for about 3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. As needed, add the remaining butter to the skillet.
  • Melt butter over medium heat in a medium cast iron skillet to make caramelized onions. the onion Cook the onion until it is tender and golden brown, stirring periodically.
  • In a small bowl, combine all the sauce ingredients and stir until well-combined to make the secret sauce. For up to three days, keep covered in the refrigerator.
