Equipment

  • Microwave

Ingredients

  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 ¼ cup all purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted and cooled in the fridge
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup chocolate chips semisweet

Instructions

  • Melt your butter in the microwave, then place it in the fridge to cool. Allow it to cool for about 10-15 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients and stir well with a large spoon.
  • Mix in the vanilla and butter (make sure it has cooled in the fridge or the cookies will turn out way too thin).
  • Mix in the egg for two minutes, or until well combined, using a hand mixer. Avoid over-mixing.
  • Using a large spoon, stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Measure out your dough with a medium cookie scoop (about 12 tablespoons).
  • Roll into tall, cylindrical balls rather than round ones. They will bake into circles as they bake.
  • Keep in mind that the cookies will spread a little, so leave some space when placing the dough on the baking sheet.
  • Bake at 350°F for 14 to 16 minutes, or until golden brown around the edges.
