12 ounces of fresh cranberries, 3/4 cup sugar, 1/2 cup water, and the juice and zest of 1 orange should all be combined in a sauce saucepan.
Cook, stirring periodically, over medium-low heat until cranberries have burst and broken down to form a sauce. About 6 to 8 minutes will pass throughout this. When sauce smoothly drops off a spoon, it is finished.
