Servings: 2 Jars

Equipment

  • 2 Jars

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of distilled white vinegar
  • ¼ cup of water
  • ½ teaspoon of pure cane sugar
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 4 cups of filtered tap water
  • ½ teaspoon of yeast nutrient solution available online
  • ½ package of dry yeast

Instructions

  • In order to start off, add 1 cup of distilled white vinegar to a bowl.
  • Add ¼ cup of water and ½ teaspoon of salt.
  • Mix well until everything is dissolved completely.
  • Now, pour 3 cups of filtered tap water into 2 separate containers and mix both together.
  • Make sure that the amount of water added does not exceed 4 cups.
  • If it exceeds 4 cups, it might affect the fermentation process.
  • Add ½ teaspoon of yeast nutrient solution to each of the 2 containers containing 4 cups of water.
  • Now, sprinkle half of each packet of yeast on top of each jar.
  • Let sit for 15 minutes before adding the remaining half of each packet.
  • Once the yeast starts growing, wait for 24 hours before starting the next step of fermenting the mixture.
  • To do that, put the jars in a warm area where they will stay between 60°F and 70°F while allowing air circulation around them.
  • After 24 hours, check whether the yeast started to grow.
  • When it appears, it indicates that the fermentation process is complete.
  • At this point, remove the lid and allow the content to settle down for 10 minutes.
  • Then, transfer the contents of each jar into large glass mason jars and cap tightly.
