Heat shortening and peanut butter together in the microwave. Mix cornmeal, oats, flour, and dried fruit together in a large bowl. If more flour or cornmeal is required to achieve a crumbly texture, do so.
Let the mixture cool and set.
Scoop into 3" balls and roll them.
Fill your dish to the brim and keep the extra suet balls in a closed jar at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
