- 2 cups water
- 5 teaspoons coffee granules
- 1/2 cinnamon stick 3 inches
- 4 cloves
- 5 teaspoons sugar
- Whipped topping optional
In a small saucepan, bring the water to a boil.
Add the instant coffee granules, cinnamon stick, and cloves to the water, and stir to combine.
Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large measuring cup or bowl.
Discard the solids and return the coffee mixture to the saucepan.
Add the sugar to the coffee mixture and stir until dissolved.
Reheat the coffee over low heat until it's hot but not boiling.
Divide the coffee mixture among four mugs and top each mug with whipped topping if desired.
