Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 5 teaspoons coffee granules
  • 1/2 cinnamon stick 3 inches
  • 4 cloves
  • 5 teaspoons sugar
  • Whipped topping optional

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, bring the water to a boil.
  • Add the instant coffee granules, cinnamon stick, and cloves to the water, and stir to combine.
  • Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large measuring cup or bowl.
  • Discard the solids and return the coffee mixture to the saucepan.
  • Add the sugar to the coffee mixture and stir until dissolved.
  • Reheat the coffee over low heat until it's hot but not boiling.
  • Divide the coffee mixture among four mugs and top each mug with whipped topping if desired.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!
